About this Case Study

I have suffered from mental health issues since the age of 13, and mental health has therefore been an ever-present companion throughout my career. One of the things I have always struggled with is feeling too deeply, and trying to help others to the detriment of myself. As I took on more leadership roles, I realised that what I had once considered a superpower was no longer sustainable.

So I started practising a CBT technique taught to me by my therapist. I christened this technique 'compartmentalised empathy', and I use it to help my colleagues and mentees improve themselves within their careers, whilst still maintaining my own mental wellbeing.
