Michael Brunton-Spall is the deputy director for emerging security capabilities in the Cabinet Office. Michael’s job is to consider the emerging and ever changing context in which security operates to develop new capabilities to enable people to carry out their business in a secure and safe manner.
Previously, Michael has had a variety of roles including working at the Government Digital Service as deputy director for technology and operations, head of cybersecurity, head of architecture and consulting architect. He has a long and slightly odd career ranging from creating low-level embedded hardware to gaming development on consoles to scaling and operating the Guardian newspapers website. He is a regular conference speaker, the author of Agile Application Security, runs a weekly cybersecurity newsletter, CyberWeekly, and is an enthusiastic and proud agile and security geek.
