About the session
Sure, product management best practices such as exploiting algorithms, big data and AI, scaling or personalisation make for successful products. However, recent scandals and failures such as Cambridge Analytica, FTX or Theranos have shown that these best practices can easily have a nasty impact.
Our claim is that, as an industry, we need to do better. In this talk we will discuss a range of best practices, how they can become problematic and most importantly what we can do about it.
This talk stands on its own, but if ethics interest you, why not join the talk "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should... Ethics in the digital age of globalisation, automation and AI", also at LAS, which takes a more general look at ethical product and service design and delivery.
Participant takeaways:
- Understand why an ethical approach matters, and where the pitfalls are
- An overview of common best practices, how the can be taken too far, and what one can do about it
- A framework that enables team to work towards a more considered, mindful and ethical approach to product management
