About the session

How can we make security beautiful? What can make it so attractive that our product owners and stakeholders are glad to spend money on it?

In this workshop, you’ll decide the beauty of many types of security for an example project: how much they matter in reality. And you’ll work out how to present the most beautiful as vital and important selling points.

You will, in short, make security desirable!

This workshop, based on seven years’ research at Lancaster University, teaches two skills that are vital to 2020’s development: risk-based analysis, and promoting the positive.

We’ll teach the nature of the figures: how ‘small’ can be orders of magnitude less than ‘large’, and how cyber problems can be remarkably unlikely. And participants will practice expressing the ugliest of risks as correspondingly beautiful kinds of security.
