About the session

Themes: Inclusivity | Neurodivergence | Teams

The Agile Manifesto never mentions neurodivergence - but the two go together surprisingly well. Short feedback loops, visual work, iterative progress, self-organisation and sustainable pace are commonly seen as good delivery practice, but they're also tools that neurodivergent people can use to work with their brains rather than against them.

This talk is for anyone who is neurodivergent, works alongside neurodivergent colleagues, or is curious about the intersection of neurodivergence and agile.

Rooted in lived and professional experience, it covers helpful agility practices for those thinking differently and pitfalls to watch out for. It also involves a reframe: neurodivergent colleagues can be a driver of innovation, resilience and regenerative thinking - an asset sorely needed in the Age of Disruption.

Participant takeaways:

  • key terminology and principles on the topic of neurodivergence
  • why neurodivergent people can be a genuine asset for organisational resilience and tackling problems of the Age of Disruption such as climate change
  • the specific cognitive traits that make neurodivergent thinking valuable
  • how agile practices and neurodivergence correlate, with specific examples on helpful and hindering practices
  • tips on how to better work with neurodivergent brains and peers on a daily basis
