Sustainable and ethical data governance: From creation to AI

If you were to ask people to define the topics; Ethics, Governance, Sustainability, Data, and AI - you would likely get some very varied answers. If you then ask them how to connect those 5 things, you may get more puzzled looks than definitive answers. How do they connect? What do they practically mean?

This talk will take you on a journey through ethical theory with some fun audience interaction. We will move through some fascinating, and occasionally terrifying, public examples and discuss how to ensure ethical thinking is embedded in an organisation's culture and how it can be maintained within a wider Data Governance function at a corporate level. At a lower level, we will discuss the benefits that robust governance that includes ethics can bring to development, with data as both a business asset and a cherished responsibility.  

The focus, and the journey we are going on, is a complete high-level understanding of ethics within an organisation from end to end, and how to align it with a fundamental awareness of that framework and the processes around it at the planning, product and development level.

Builders of systems need to be confident they are supported in behaving ethically as they innovate, and corporate need to be able to prove that they have considered ethics and have made it an intrinsic part of everything they stand for.
